The landmark hotel reopened with an even greater focus on hospitality, authenticity, and well-being
Located on the cliffs of Armação de Pêra, with direct access to Praia das Gaivotas, the newly rebranded Vilalara Grand Hotel Algarve has reopened under the management of Spanish group Azora, which specializss in hotel investments and management.
The emblematic Vilalara hotel, founded in the second half of the 1960s by British investor George Ansley, reopened on April 2nd with a new identity, having renovated several key areas.

With this transformation, the hotel is reinforcing its central pillars: authenticity, unique hospitality, and transformative wellness experiences.
Vilalara “continues to establish itself as one of the leading luxury destinations in southern Europe”, reads the press statement from the brand, now with reimagined spaces – from the suites to the common areas, including the restaurants and wellness zones.

The project involved a profound brand repositioning, preserving the hotel’s DNA of excellence and connection to the region whilst aligning it with the highest standards of wellness tourism and contemporary hospitality.
Vilalara now offers a new generation of experiences designed to enhance guests’ comfort and well-being.

One of the new features is the Residences – luxury apartments with two or three bedrooms, a fully equipped kitchen, a spacious living room, and a private terrace. Portuguese craftsmanship is featured throughout the units, combining rustic and contemporary styles, with custom-made furniture, clay floors, upcycled pieces, handmade Zellige tiles, and a relaxed atmosphere with earthy tones.

The hotel also opened the health-focus Vento restaurant where nature and architecture merge to create a serene space serving dishes made from fresh and nutritious ingredients.
As for the hotel’s landmark Coral restaurant, it has undergone a complete renovation to remain a symbol of sophistication. This intimate and elegant restaurant offers a taste of the sea whilst paying special attention to detail.

Well-being takes centre stage with the introduction of the Wellness Signature Program, offering three- to seven-day packages, five themed wellness courses, specialised therapies, and wellness suites.
These areas were designed by the award-winning Spanish studio Quintana Partners, combining contemporary aesthetics with natural and traditional elements, “creating environments that favour serenity, authenticity and comfort”.

The hotel boasts 131 accommodation units (111 suites and 20 residences), five restaurants, three outdoor swimming pools, an indoor heated pool, Wellness Spa, a gym, four tennis and padel courts, and a Kids Club, with the original building remaining at the heart of the project and reflecting the harmony between architecture and nature that defines Vilalara’s spirit.

For the Easter Programme, throughout Easter Week, there will be moments to reconnect with you inner self, tranquillity experiences, and celebration of the senses.
On Good Friday (April 18), the Coral restaurant will offer a special menu dedicated to the freshness of the sea, with dishes such as squid from the Azores with macerated tomatoes and almonds, scallops in garlic sauce and purple muscat vinegar, and lily with Aljezur sweet potato and orange. The menu is priced at €87 per person, with booking required.

Then on Saturday, exclusively for guests, there will be a cacao ceremony at 7pm, followed by a spiritual music concert at 8pm, in an intimate and contemplative atmosphere.
Sunday, the final day of the programme and open to the public, will be celebrated with a traditional lunch, featuring slow-roasted lamb in a wood oven, priced at €138 per person.
The programme also includes a ceramics workshop led by Portuguese artist Pedro Piedade, designed for the whole family, where participants can create and customise their own clay pieces.
