Algarve strengthens air connectivity with 86 routes to 75 destinations this summer
Faro Airport (Gago Coutinho airport), will be working routes to three new markets this summer: the United States (New York) via United Airlines from May, Finland (Helsinki) operated by Finnair, and Iceland (Reykjavik) via Play, Iceland’s new low-cost airline.
The new routes will extend the Algarve’s air connectivity to 22 international markets.
To support this traffic growth, ANA – Aeroportos de Portugal, the national airport management company, is implementing a programme of investments in infrastructure and technology, which covers all airports under its management.
This summer, Faro Airport is expected to work an average of 821 weekly flights, which is an increase of 8% in the average number of weekly flights compared to last summer, shared ANA.
The connectivity to the main hubs will total 147 weekly flights to London (UK), 51 to Dublin (Ireland), 30 to Paris (France), 27 to Lisbon, 22 to Amsterdam (Netherlands) and 17 to Frankfurt (Germany).
Last year, all ANA airports saw record growth in traffic, with almost 70 million passengers – an increase of 4.3% on the previous year. Faro Airport registered 9.8 million passengers in 2024, an increase of 2%.
